Jolie interpreteaza rolul lui Evelyn Salt, un ofiter CIA. Atunci cand este acuzata cum ca ar fi un spion rus inactiv, Salt se pune pe fuga incercand sa-si schimbe numele si sa-si dovedeasca patriotismul. Folosindu-se de experienta sa din domeniul CIA-ului, Salt trebuie sa-si apere sotul sau isi va pierde identitatea.
