“Frida Kahlo lion’s mane.”

In honor of Danny Trejo and the film ‘Machete,’ two renowned artists have created new poster art for the film.

Los Angeles based muralist David Choe created two images for the film, including a cast compilation in the shape of a massive blade, with Don Johnson’s villainous Lt. Stillman and his giant hat forming the handle. Choe found great inspiration in Trejo’s iconic face, and also created a portrait of Trejo, surrounded by some of the blades Machete uses in the film forming what Choe refers to as a “Frida Kahlo lion’s mane.”
Check out the behind the scenes video with Choe and Trejo, in which Choe discusses his admiration for Trejo, and the details and inspiration for the two posters.

Tattoo artist and muralist Mr. Cartoon is a longtime friend of Danny Trejo’s and has also created ‘Machete’ artwork in honor of his friend.
