24 Frames reports that 20th Century Fox has hired Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (Ed Wood, Agent Cody Banks) to write the script for a sequel to Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief. The site says the movie would be subtitled “The Sea of Monsters” and based on Rick Riordan’s second book in the series.
ComingSoon has confirmed that the writers are on board, but no director is set yet and the film does not have a start date yet. 24 Frames says that Chris Columbus, who directed the first film, will produce with the returning Karen Rosenfelt. Logan Lerman and the other leads are expected to reprise their roles.
“The Lightning Thief,” made for about $95 million, earned $226.5 million worldwide ($88.8 million domestically and $137.7 million overseas).
