The Chameleon is a psychological thriller based on the real Frederic Bourdin, a “con-artist” of sorts who has assumed at least 39 identities, 3 of them missing teens.
The story is about a reunion of a young man with his family after being positively identified in an unsolved missing-persons case. The reunion turns bittersweet when suspicions arise about whether he really is their son. French director Jean-Paul Salomé will be making his English-language debut and has hired Marc-Andre Grondin for the lead as well as Ellen Barkin and Famke Janssen. The script for The Chameleon was written by director Jean Paul Salome and Natalie Carter. The project was inspired by an article in the New Yorker titled “The Chameleon: The Many Lives of Frederic Bourdin”. Grondin will play the son, Barkin will play the mom, and Janssen will play an FBI agent. Nick Stahl and Emilie de Ravin also star. The project is being developed independently and being sold by ICM, so expect it to either show at film fests or be picked up before actually hitting theaters.
