Sony Pictures si scenaristul si regizorul filmului District 9 Neill Blomkamp vor produce filmul Elysium, un sci-fi in care vor juca Sharlto Copley, Matt Damon si Jodie Foster.

declara Blomkamp,
“I have a brilliant relationship with Sony. I loved them during ‘District 9,’ they 100% get this film and they get me. ‘Elysium’ is in very good hands.”
In film actiunea are loc cu 100 de ani in viitor iar Syd Mead (Blade Runner) se va ocupa de decoruri.
Filmarile pentru Elysium sunt programate sa inceapa din luna iulie in Vancouver apoi se vor muta in Mexic spre toamna. Studioul vrea ca filmul sa fie lansat de sarbatori in 2012.
Dupa ce termina cu Elysium, Blomkamp se va ocupa de filmul Chappie, alt film al carui scenariul il va scrie tot el.

Sony Pictures and District 9 writer/director Neill Blomkamp are reuniting on Elysium, his new sci-fi film that will star Sharlto Copley, Matt Damon and Jodie Foster.

The film is set 100 years in the future on another planet and is filled with many sociopolitical ideas wrapped up inside a Hollywood action film. Syd Mead (Blade Runner) will design the sets.
Elysium is scheduled to start shooting in July in Vancouver and will then move to Mexico City in the fall. The studio is targeting a 2012 holiday release.
After Elysium, Blomkamp is expected to start filming Chappie, another original film he’s written.
